Patrick McManamon is our Director of Dry Eye and Specialty Contact Lenses. After graduating from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Dr. McManamon completed his residency in Cornea and Contact Lens at The Eye Institute and under Dr. James Lewis. He is well versed in treating various types of dry eye including those related to meibomian gland dysfunction, ocular rosacea, aqueous deficiency, medication use, and Sjogren’s disease, among others. Our office uses the most up-to-date technologies to examine the ocular structures that cause dry eye including non-invasive tear break up time, meibomian gland imaging, tear-lipid interferometry, tear film osmolarity, inflammatory mediator testing, Schirmer testing, and vital dye examination. Dr. McManamon is well versed in the treatment of dry eye catered to every individual patient’s needs. Some of our available dry eye treatments include intense pulsed light therapy (IPL), amniotic tissue matrix, Lipiflow, Meiboflow, punctual occlusion, oral and topical medication prescriptions, and scleral contact lenses. After careful and thorough examination, a custom treatment plan is recommended for each patient to improve clinical signs as well as symptoms for dry eye and ocular surface disease.
Dr McManamon is available for specialty contact lens consultations for scleral contact lenses and rigid gas-permeable contact lenses for the treatment of myopia, hyperopia, presbyopia, aphakia, irregular astigmatism, post-penetrating keratoplasty (corneal transplant), and keratoconus.
